Apples & Honey for a Sweet New Year: Metaphors and How They Help Us Create Meaning (Live Beit Midrash)

Recon Connect: Live connection with Reconstructionist around the world.

In this #ReconConnect Live Beit Midrash, Rabbi Marjorie Berman presents “Apples & Honey for a Sweet New Year: Metaphors and How They Help Us Create Meaning.”

Apples and honey, the call of the shofar, being written in the Book of Life: in liturgy, in action, and in our spiritual imagination, metaphors help us to create meaning and connection in our lives. By looking at some of the metaphors of the Yamim Noraim, the Days of Awe, we’ll explore how metaphor underlies our tradition, our religious experience, and our very perception of reality.
