Liberation doesn’t happen overnight, even for the Israelites enslaved in Egypt. Through a close-reading of texts where our ancestors undergo a process of spiritual preparation, we will see what we might learn about our own individual and collective paths to freedom.

The first part of the day will be a learning opportunity with S. Tamar Kamionkowski, Ph.D., professor of Bible at Reconstructionist Rabbinical College. The theme of Tamar’s presentation is Pesakh: Reviving Some Ancient Wisdom for Difficult Times. Other leaders, including local rabbis, will lead workshop sessions. After her presentation will be breakout sessions featuring Tamar and our Chesapeake-area rabbis. 

In between the first and second parts of our program, we invite attendees to join us for a Chesapeake region social hour. Attendees can mix and mingle with members of other area congregations.

The last part of our day will be the Chesapeake Annual Celebration, with a buffet dinner. During this program, we will recognize outstanding contributions made by several members of local congregations. We will honor and celebrate these individuals and their incredible contributions.
