Poetry as Sanctuary: The Journey Continues

Poetry as Sanctuary will continue in our second session to explore ekphrasis  and finding inspiration through visual art, poems as Midrash, and the use of poetic forms. Please join Cathleen Cohen and Chelsea Jackson as we delve into  topics which will nurture our own writing.

Cathleen Cohen was the 2019 Poet Laureate of Montgomery County, Pa. A painter, poet and teacher, she founded ArtWell’s “We the Poets” program in Philadelphia (www.theartwell.org). Her poems have appeared in Apiary, Baltimore Review, Cagibi, Chrysalis Journal, East Coast Ink, Philadelphia Stories and other journals. Her chapbook Camera Obscura was published by Moonstone Arts Press.

 

 

Chelsea Jackson
Chelsea Jackson is awestruck by creativity and its power to challenge and comfort. She uses her poetry to ask hard questions, engage in justice/social change, and explore what it means to be human. Chelsea is published in Avalon, and the Platform Review, and was a finalist in the 2020 Driftwood Press In-House Poetry Contest. She has her MFA in Poetry from Drew University. Originally from Southeastern, Virginia, she now lives in Philadelphia with her partner, and their cat and pit bull.
