When the Organized World Meets the Rogue World - Edgeblog
Synagogues engage one-third of the United States’ Jewish population. What role might they take to serve the spiritual, communal and religious needs of the other two-thirds (the majority) who don’t choose synagogue membership as an expression of their Judaism?

Community Teaching 11-21-2017 - Maurice Harris
In this Community Learning call from November 21, 2017, Rabbi Maurice Harris talks about the strange way the Torah tells us about Moses’ up-close encounters with God, contradicting itself purposely within the space of nine verses. Two consecutive stories in the Book of Exodus confront us with a crucial paradox about how it is or isn’t possible to encounter the Divine, leaving us as readers with something like an “impossible” mental picture that we may be tempted to try to resolve or to hold as a fruitful paradox.

DW January Recon Today column
This month marks the beginning of my fifth year as president of this extraordinary movement full of amazing people and supportive communities. Over these past four years, I have visited with leaders or congregants at 48 affiliated communities (with three more planned for this spring), and, through regional programming, have encountered members from 22 additional communities. It is my hope that I will meet again and anew individuals from every community at our upcoming convention November 15-18, 2018, and that my travels will ultimately bring me to every community.

Statement on Blacklist
The Reconstructionist Rabbinical Association and the Reconstructionist Rabbinical College/Jewish Reconstructionist Communities are deeply troubled and disappointed by the Israeli government’s publication of a “blacklist” of organizations whose members will be barred from entering Israel due to their perceived support for the BDS movement.
