  1. DT Beshalakh Joel Hecker - Staff and Zohar

“Raise your staff and stretch out your hand over the sea and split it apart, that the Israelites may come into the midst of the sea on dry land” (Exodus 14:16).

What is the nature of this staff? Is it a walking stick? Sign of God’s power? Or magical device?

  2. New Reconstructionist Camp

Camp JRF, the Reconstructionist summer camp located in northeast Pennsylvania, has announced plans to open a film and arts-based specialty camp in Southern California. The Foundation for Jewish Camp, as part of its Specialty Camps Incubator, is awarding up to $1.4 million over four years to Camp JRF in order to open a Jewish specialty camp in the Los Angeles area.

  6. Need to Take a Breath at Work? Edgeblog

More and faster describes my usual work habit. I’ve operated this way for decades. Now, as the Vice President for Innovation and Impact at Reconstructing Judaism, I apply this ingrained approach to ensure focus on the hour-by-hour demands of my calendar. Meetings, grant applications, reports, time to design new and better engagement all rightfully demand my attention. I’m working for the Jewish future. “Keep working,” I tell myself. Yet, finally I’m realizing that by continuing to bow to my task list as master, I am making mistakes.

  9. Multifaith - Twelve Things I Learned

Like many Americans, before 2001 I knew only a very few things about Islam and Muslims. Unfortunately, most of what I “knew” was not correct. While I still have much to learn, at least I now know a bit more than I did. Here are just 10 things that surprised me when I first learned them. Since I am not an authority, you should not take my word for any of this. I have included links for each item. Please follow up for yourself.
