Joint Statement on Immigration
The leadership of Reconstructing Judaism and the Reconstructionist Rabbinical Association condemn with horror the travesty that has become our immigration system under the administration of U.S. President Donald J. Trump. The “zero tolerance” policy that first saw young children ripped away from their parents as they attempted to seek asylum and safety in the United States—and now is holding families locked up in detention—is immoral and a disgrace to the American and Jewish values we hold dear.

July Leadership Column
I frequently describe myself as an evangelist for progressive religion. I spend much of my time making the case for why folks should belong. Why belong to any religion? Why belong to the Jewish people? Why belong to a synagogue? Why belong to the Reconstructionist movement?

Statement on Israel's Passage of the Nation State Law
Reconstructing Judaism and the Reconstructionist Rabbinical Association strongly oppose the Nation State Law that the Knesset has now established as one of Israel’s Basic Laws, which carry constitutional weight.

Gathering - Seth Rosen August 2018 article
In the last several weeks, two experiences, both of them ongoing, have made clear to me the power and persistency of “gathering” as a lynchpin of building and sustaining a spiritual community within the Reconstructionist movement. By “gathering,” I mean physically gathering — being together at the same time, in the same place, for one another and with one another.

Rosh Hashanah Message 2018
This Rosh Hashanah, I am thinking hard about the theme of zikhronot, or remembering. In this short video, I explore the theme of remembering and how it is an essential part of seeking teshuvah, or repentance. These High Holidays, I ask you to join me and Jews across the world in engaging in deep reflection and teshuvah. May we find the inspiration and courage to do our own personal work (tikkun nefesh, repair of the soul or self) and to work toward justice (tikkun olam, repair of the world).
