  1. Incubator Session 6: Getting What You Need from Boards & Governance

On May 4, 2017, the last in a series of six sessions of the Reconstructionist Learning Networks Innovators Incubator took place. In this session, guest facilitator Toby Rubin, founder of UpStart, guided a discussion on “Getting What You Need from Boards & Governance.” Below are highlights from the session, with links to resources discussed.

    Attitude toward boards

Our attitudes to boards and governance are essential. If you don’t have a positive attitude toward boards, you won’t get what you need from them.

  4. Statement Responding to Same-Sex Marriage Ruling

The Reconstructionist movement celebrates the Supreme Court decision on Obergefell v. Hodges, ruling marriage equality for our country. We are kvelling that all couples will be seen as equal in our nation. Gay and lesbian couples now have the same rights, responsibilities and benefits as heterosexual couples. As important is the dignity this new status confers on all same-sex couples. We are in awe of the many acts, known and unknown, that brought us to this very place, a shehechiyanu moment indeed.

  7. Condemning UNESCO's Temple Mount Resolution

RRC/Jewish Reconstructionist Communities condemns today’s United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Jerusalem resolution that functionally erases the historical presence of Judaism on the Temple Mount. The resolution ignores the existence of ancient Israel’s connection to the Temple Mount, and Israeli leaders on the left and right have objected to it strongly. We appreciate the U.S.’s vote against the resolution, which a White House spokesperson called “one-sided,” “unhelpful,” and “highly politicized.”

  9. Statement on Fires in Haifa

RRC/Jewish Reconstructionist Communities expresses solidarity with Israel’s firefighters and emergency rescue services who are working tirelessly to combat the spread of multiple wildfires in the Haifa region. As the number of people who have been evacuated exceeds 60,000, we will continue to monitor the situation. We are deeply disturbed by initial Israeli reports that as many as half the fires were probably acts of arson, including possibly politically motivated arson.
