  2. Letter Opposing Repeal of Johnson Amendment (April 2019)

    Reconstructing Judaism and the Reconstructionist Rabbinical Association were among 131 organizations sending a letter to the House Ways and Means and Senate Finance committes, urging them not to repeal or weaken the “Johnson Amendment” that currently ensures that tax-exempt organizations do not support or oppose candidates for political office.   3. Letter on Religious Discrimination in Foster Care

    Reconstructing Judaism and the Reconstructionist Rabbinical Association joined more than 100 organizations in protest of the recent decision to exempt federally funded foster care agencies in South Carolina from federal religious nondiscrimination protections.   5. Amicus Brief Affirming Boston Policy Against Endorsing Religious Symbols

  6. Letter in support of the Never Again (Holocaust) Education Act

    Reconstructing Judaism and the Reconstructionist Rabbinical Association were among more than 300 organizations to support the Never Again Education Act (H.R. 943). The attached letter, sent to the chair and ranking member of the House Committee on Education and Labor, urges the swift passage of the bill, which uses public funding and private donations to provide teachers with resources and training on lessons of the Holocaust and the consequences of bigotry and hate.

  8. Letter to Tennessee Legislation on Child Welfare

    Reconstructing Judaism and the Reconstructionist Rabbinical Association were signatories to a letter objecting to the Tennessee legislature’s proposed legislation that would allow federally funded foster care and adoption agencies to use religious freedom to justify taxpayer-funded religious discrimination.

  9. Letter to New York Times Regarding Antisemitic Cartoon

    Reconstructing Judaism was a signatory to a letter that the the Jewish Council for Public Affairs (JCPA) sent to the New York Times Executive Editor condemning the Antisemitic cartoon published on April 25, 2019. JCPA, an umbrella organization of the Jewish community relations field, issued the letter signed by 54 local Jewish Community Relations Councils, 14 National member agencies, and 13 other organizations. The letter urged the New York Times to take tangible steps to ensure that such inflammatory material will not be published in the future.
