    Rabbi Isaac is a graduate of Tufts University and the Reconstructionist Rabbinical College. He has served as Assistant Director of Camp JRF and as Director of No’ar Hadash. Under his guidance, JRF launched the successful No’ar Hadash Israel Experience. Rabbi Isaac is a long-time Jewish camper and youth worker, having worked previously for URJ Olin-Sang-Ruby Union Institute and NFTY. He is a graduate of the Foundation for Jewish Camp’s Executive Leadership Institute.

  2. Brianna Spatz

    Brianna was born and raised in South Florida and has spent many of her summers at her second home, Camp Havaya. She attended Brandeis University where she majored in psychology and Near Eastern and Judaic studies; she then continued studying at the Jewish Theological Seminary, earning her master’s degree in Jewish experiential education. Brianna has been a camper, counselor, and rosh eidah (unit head) at Camp Havaya (then Camp JRF), and was very involved in No’ar Hadash. She loves dancing outside Friday night, hiking to the waterfall, and playing Ultimate Frisbee at Camp.

  9. Reconstructionist Torah Blessings

    The traditional blessing before reading from the Torah contains the phrase אֲשֶׁר בָּֽחַר בָּֽנוּ מִכָּל הָעַמִּים (asher bakhar banu mikol ha’amim) — “Praised are you Lord our God, ruler of the Universe, who has chosen us from among all peoples by giving us the Torah.”  The Reconstructionist version of that phrase is rewritten as אֲשֶׁר קֵרְבָנוּ לַעֲבוֹדָתוֹ (asher kervanu la’avodato), “who has drawn us to your service by giving us the Torah.” This change preserves the notion of Torah as our unique and prec
