  2. New Reconstructionist Camp

    Camp JRF, the Reconstructionist summer camp located in northeast Pennsylvania, has announced plans to open a film and arts-based specialty camp in Southern California. The Foundation for Jewish Camp, as part of its Specialty Camps Incubator, is awarding up to $1.4 million over four years to Camp JRF in order to open a Jewish specialty camp in the Los Angeles area.

    The camp – geared for third to 10th graders – is slated to open in 2018, with the goal of providing high-level arts programming within the Jewish, values-based community for which Camp JRF is known.

  6. Kaplan Center Peoplehood Conference Resources

    On April 10 and 11 in Philadelphia Jewish scholars, leaders, educators, and Rabbis gathered together for a two day conference on Jewish peoplehood co-sponsored by the Kaplan Center for Jewish Peoplehood, the Reconstructionist Rabbinical College, the Department of Religion of Temple University, and the National Museum of American Jewish History.

  7. Teen Exercise: Exploration of God Beliefs

    This pilot program for Jewish teen education provides several activities for exploring and sharing beliefs about God. Originally written in anticipation of the 2016-2017 school year, this experimental program can be used in a variety of settings and times of year.

    This short biography of Mordecai Kaplan is written for children from 5th to 9th grade. It also has proved useful for adult education classes for a brief review of Kaplan’s life before delving into other topics of Kaplanian or Reconstructionist thought. It is accompanied by study questions that might guide your exploration of the meaning of the value of Kaplan’s life and work after having read the story.
