Congregational Safety Resources
In the months since the October 2018 Pittsburgh synagogue attack, we have been sharing resources with Reconstructionist communities that address questions of how to make our synagogues safer while also upholding Jewish values of racial justice, interfaith community building, and equity. This page gathers together what we’ve shared so far with our educators, executive directors and presidents.

Nafshenu
Nafshenu is an independent, energetic, congregation of about 20 households in the Cherry Hill, New Jersey area with a closely-knit and strong team of lay leaders. From their Core Values statement: “…Nafshenu is different than the traditional model of Jewish life; it is the kind of community that recognizes the power that Judaism has to transform our lives-it is in the uncomfortable moments of life when we grow the most.

Reconstructing Judaism Over the Next Five Years
by Rabbi Deborah Waxman, Ph.D., and Seth Rosen
In March 2021, the board of governors unanimously adopted a five-year strategic plan for Reconstructing Judaism. The new strategic plan reaffirms our longstanding commitments, transforms our ideological interest in innovation into strategy, and charts new paths forward around engagement of individuals and communities through both in-person and online platforms.

Tetzaveh / Purim 2021 - Yael Ridberg
Purim 2020 was the last in-person event celebrated by many Jewish communities around the country before the COVID-19 shutdown. Little did we understand that the essential psychological principle of Purim of hafichut – the reversibility of our world – would come to mean something even more profound than what we had come to expect.
