Marriage Equality and Religious Freedom
On a recent evening in Scarsdale, N.Y., I was at the Mid-Westchester JCC, speaking on a panel to a packed and spirited room. We’d been invited to discuss marriage equality and Jewish values, and the tone was certainly celebratory. We acknowledged we have farther to go, but in light of the Supreme Court’s decision last year on gay marriage, we’ve certainly come a long way.

The First Reconstructionist Birthright Journey
At the very beginning of the first ever Reconstructionist Birthright trip, our tour guide instructed our group to use the word journey when referring to these 10 days in Israel. Though it sounded hokey, I knew that Birthright wanted all of its participants to leave Israel feeling some sort of impact on their personal development. What I didn’t know was that these 10 days truly would become a journey, not only for myself but also for my fellow young Reconstructionist Jews.https://archive.reconstructingjudaism.org/news/first-reconstructionist-birthright-journey

Camp JRF Name Change Release
Dear Friends,
Today’s the day!
As you know, we’ve been talking for years about changing the name of Camp JRF. Now that our namesake no longer exists as an umbrella organization (as it did when we opened), with a second camp on the horizon, and with excitement that the Reconstructionist movement is currently undertaking a similar process, the time has finally come.
And so, without any further ado, we’re excited to share with you our new name, logo, and tagline:https://archive.reconstructingjudaism.org/news/new-name-camp-jrf

Explore the New Online Home of Reconstructionist Judaism
[Note: Jewishrecon.org underwent a facelift in early 2018 to become ReconstructingJudaism.org]
Learn. Act. Connect.
These three verbs, in many ways, encapsulate what it means to live as a Reconstructionist Jew today. By design, they are the first three menu items on the recently redesigned www.jewishrecon.org.

DW January Recon Today column
This month marks the beginning of my fifth year as president of this extraordinary movement full of amazing people and supportive communities. Over these past four years, I have visited with leaders or congregants at 48 affiliated communities (with three more planned for this spring), and, through regional programming, have encountered members from 22 additional communities. It is my hope that I will meet again and anew individuals from every community at our upcoming convention November 15-18, 2018, and that my travels will ultimately bring me to every community.
