#ZeroWastePassover: The Life-Changing Mitzvah of Tidying Up

Participants will be encouraged to share rituals, strategies, reflections, recipes, stories, and pictures of our #ZeroWastePassover.

Rabbi Malkah Binah Klein is an artist, spiritual director and teacher of Mussar (spiritual transformation work rooted in Jewish ethics). She serves Reconstructionist congregation Am Haskalah in Allentown, PA. Malkah Binah was the co-chair, in partnership with a Christian pastor, of Philadelphia PA-IPL, an interfaith organization devoted to responding to climate change as an urgent moral issue. Malkah Binah has a love-hate relationship with preparing her home for Pesach (a lot of fears and feelings arise when sorting through what to give away), and she looks forward to supporting one another as we clean and clear our homes this year. Rabbi Nathan Martin currently serves as the Associate Rabbi at Congregation Beth Israel in Media, PA. He completed a two-year training for religious environmental leadership with Greenfaith (2007–2008), and organized a Philadelphia Jewish contingent to head to the 2017 People’s Climate March. He graduated from the Reconstructionist Rabbinical College (RRC) in 2006. He currently serves on the board of Pennsylvania Interfaith Power and Light, a state-wide interfaith organization dedicated to bringing a religious voice and response to the challenges of climate change.

Gari Julius Weilbacher Gari Julius Weilbacher is a communications consultant and personal life coach with a commitment to human and environmental sustainability. Her book, DeClutter2DeLight: Handbook+Workbook has been named as “One of 19 books that will help you keep your New Year’s Resolutions,” and her workshops are often standing room only. Betsy Teutsch has been writing about eco-sustainable life styles for a dozen years, including co-authoring a seminal article about Jewish Voluntary Simplicity. She lives in Philadelphia where she is an active member of Minyan Dorshei Derekh and her local Buy Nothing Group. She recently completed writing a book on reducing global food loss and waste, titled 100 under $100: Tools for Reducing Postharvest Losses.
